Hi my name is Lisa I'm the President and founder of Golden Key Camp here in Gladwin, we are a nonprofit, we grant wishes for kids with cancer and we welcome kids at Golden Key Camp in Gladwin, Mi year-round that are fighting cancer. We're restoring and updating the incredible camp to make it fully handicap accessible and we hoping to be open in the springtime. I started the charity 10 years ago and we have helped thousands of Michigan children with wish granting and helping them achieve their last wishes to make more memories with their family, children that have terminal illnesses are no different but they lose out on their childhood and often have a short life due to the illnesses they have.

 

We are excited about our massive year end goal to raise the funds needed to restore update and repair this incredible 55 acre campground! We believe it takes a village sometimes to do seemingly impossible things,.. wont you please join in the purpose and mission to help terminally ill kids by  restoring our camp for Michigan Kids to visit year round with their families!

So how can you help? How can you, your company, your office, Corporation, business, family, friends, your school, a group, organization, club you are in, your church or you personally get involved? Easy ...set a goal and run a campaign! Ask every one you know, your office, coworkers, club, employees, customers, patients, friends, family etc to make a pledge, donation, and on a day you choose to be your “Childhood cancer awareness GOLDEN KEY DAY”. A day to honor kids with cancer and to set goals! Get the word out on your social media about your week long or month long mission.

More about the camp: Each family trip to Golden Key Camp is fully funded with lodging, all meals, even some spending cash for activities nearby. Other ways Golden Key Camp helps families is if a family is unable to travel due to health concerns of the child we throw an awesome birthday party, or unfortunately often we have had the horrific news we had to plan a last Christmas together with the child in hospice, other times sadly we have had to help with funeral arrangements and costs. This statewide campaign will help us to update or retreat and welcome hundreds of families a year as well as help hundreds of situations where a family needs to make special memories together if when a child is terminally ill.

Golden Key charity has goals also coming up in 2025, we have been diligently restoring to create a fully handicap accessible camp for children fighting cancer offering a day or week for a family fighting childhood cancer. But we still need funding to update the 16 buildings to create safe, healthy, modern facilities for the children who have weakened immune systems we need the best. 

 

Other camps for children fighting cancer may offer one week a year programs, but often, children miss out on their week opportunity at a Camp because they were sick, hospitalized or couldn't attend because of their health. Your support for making pledges or donations will help make this all a reality for these children. Golden Key Camp will be available year round whenever they can come they are welcome, Your support pledges or donations will continue to help kids be a kid!

 

Childhood Cancer needs to be cured, but only 3 or 4 % of finding a cure dollars go to FINDING A CURE, we can unite to help these brave kids, raising awareness is critical. Children who are fighing don’t want to be brave to fight for their lives but they HAVE to. Children diagnosed with cancer just want to be kids and have dreams with goals like the rest of us. Raising awareness makes a difference!
