 Childhood cancer is a terrible topic but its real and has happened to Kassidy. Shes is a sweet 2 year old baby girl who has known the world of cancer almost her entire little life, we are helping her and her family through a retreat to beautiful Frankenmuth! We are excited to announce the city of Frankenmuth, Mayors office and the Chamber of Commerce are joining in to reach out to the community inviting everyone also join in the love and support by giving them a retreat to Frankenmuth!

 

We are positive the family and sweet Kassidy will feel support, strength and be embraced to sort of forget about the diagnosis for a little while!

 

Zehnders, American Legion, The Jaycees, The Lions club many businesses, City Hall, The Mayors office, the Chamber of Commerce are all on board with us and will also be granting Kassidy a Proclamation day certification announcing her day forever in Frankenmuth

We are hopeful to get help with the wonderful people and establishments in Frankenmuth. The week Kassidys family will be here we hope they feel the love and support they need. Kassidy is 2 years old and has been fighting cancer her whole short little life, and her family has been so very supportive in these very devastating and difficult 2 years and its time for the family to enjoy a place they have never been,.. so lets show them how amazing Frankenmuth truly is! 

 

 Golden Key Charity is determined to help them have some fun and forget about the realities of their life for a few days ,.. at Frankenmuth!! Golden Key Charity grants Michigan wishes for Michigan families fighting childhood cancer,.. and we have offered them a vacation anywhere in Michigan and they have chosen Frankenmuth, they are super excited to come for their week in May 3, 4, 5 , and 6th.  

 

 The trip includes a 4 day stay at Zehnders Slash waterpark, all meals, spending money, gift certificates at local shops and stores, the trip will cost about $4,000. The way Golden Key is fundraising for the trip is to seek sponsors we are still short on funds for the trip.  

 

 Perhaps you would be willing to donate any amount in your budget or maybe gift cards for the family or a basket of joy, or merchandise from your business,.. its all helpful to make this a great experience for the family and we are very grateful! Whatever you are able and willing to do we thank you ! Our saying is it takes a village and this community is so excited about welcoming this family in their deepest darkest most uncertain time,.. you will be making the world better, and certainly making their world better!! 

 

Golden Key Charity started in 2014 with a vision and purpose to not only raise awareness of childhood cancer but to directly impact the lives of children (and their families) affected by this devastating disease. We have a 55 acres campground in Gladwin, Michigan that we are restoring to also have as a fully handicap accessible park and camp - year round retreat for families to visit for a day or a week to leave "cancer at the curb" we are grateful for your support. 

 

Please allow me to introduce you to Golden Key Charity. We are a nonprofit established in 2014 with the purpose and mission to help kids who are diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illness. My name is Lisa Keck Kujawa I am the President and founder of the charity I started the nonprofit to help Michigan kids in Michigan, we have granted all kinds of wishes and sent kids and their family all over the state for their special VIP escape from their reality to give them a fun time together, but the ultimate goal of the charity was to welcome these special families at our camp. I was able to purchase 55 acres in Gladwin, to restore the old camp that was here since the 40s!  There are 16 buildings as well as a river, a private lake, cabins, bunkhouses cafeteria and huge clubhouse, but it needs a good amount of restoration before we can open, and we are also going to install a 1-mile nature trail with dozens of handicap accessible playgrounds through the trail. It’s going to be a dream come true for these families to get a chance to make more memories together while they can. It’s a heartbreaking subject as we have attended many funerals of kids that lost their fight. But please let’s learn more so we can help the families that are still committed to helping their child fight for their life.

But there's a lot to do and our goal for this winter is to continue making updates and improvements throughout the winter to be open by Fall of 2024, to welcome our very important guests and their families. We are reaching out statewide and the communities for support to get the repairs needed to be up and running. The children and their families that we welcome here will never have to pay for their visits at Golden Key Camp they can visit a day or a week. It will be a retreat like none other and a haven for terminally ill children fighting for their lives.

The Mission of Golden Key Camp charity nonprofit 501c3 Is to grant camping and nature wishes to Michigan children who are fighting cancer, we purchased a 55-acre retired youth camp in Gladwin to restore to invite hundreds of children and their families each year. We need help with the restoration, we have dozens of children already on the waiting list that are hopeful to come to Golden Key Camp.

In the fall of 2022 Golden Key Camp Charity was able to purchase our camp the old Good News Camp on M30 in Gladwin and we are restoring it to provide amazing camp experiences for families diagnosed with childhood cancer, day trips or overnight stays! With fully inclusive amenities cabins, lodging, cafeteria, clubhouse, a private lake, we are installing a 1-mile nature trail with dozens of handicap accessible playground features along the trail.  But we have a substantial amount of repair and updating and upgrading before we can flip our open sign for families who are fighting childhood cancer. Our kitchen and dining hall up and the bathhouse / community building, cabins and 1 mile nature trail through the woods and lots of sensory play equipment and play structures for kids of any disability to enjoy! It's a big project but we know nothing is impossible, everything IS POSSIBLE! It's a dream come true for these families that just want to have fun and create more happy memories in a very uncertain and difficult time. We are honored to help these families and we can only do this through the kindness and support of people willing to help Michigan Children who are fighting for a "normal" life.     

 
 

We were hoping to invite 7-year-old Bella and her family to Golden Key camp but sadly Bella went to Heaven just a few days before she got to enjoy our camp. We can't let that happen again. Every child in Michigan who has a diagnosis of cancer is invited to come breathe nature, play in fresh air and just be a kid at camp with their family never a cost for these families to visit.  

 
 

We can welcome 100 people or just a small family, whatever we can do to help these families we will!! But we need your support. The saying "it takes a village" has never been truer. Together, we can bless families who are fighting childhood cancer right here in our own backyard, Michigan, so, we can bless them with a little more fun together in a very uncertain time.   

 
 

Our goal for 2024 is to sponsor 300 families and welcome them to Golden Key Camp in 2024.   Any amount you raise or donate from your organization or work, church, club, office, shop etc. is so helpful to raise the sponsorship per family to help grant a child and their family a special camp experience at a place unlike anything they ever experienced!

Kids who have a terminal or life threatening illness often miss out on social activity, miss out on so much in life and feel like they don't belong and hard to connect with other kids. 

 

The original goal of Golden Key Charity had been to open a year round camp and park for families to visit a day or a week for a true awesome and unique camp experience & never a cost for the families we welcome! We now are so excited that we bought a 55 acre campground in Beautiful Gladwin, Mi It has bunkhouses, a lodge, a cafeteria, a lake, river frontage, we are installing a 1 mile trail, handicap accessible playgrounds and wildlife is bountiful! This property is incredible and we are so excited to welcome families who need to create special time together and lasting memories in a very difficult time.
